Construction to widen Ortega Highway between Interstate 5 and Rancho Viejo Road is scheduled to be completed Dec. 17, according to Caltrans. The $1.9-million project, which was begun in late June, will create an additional access lane to Interstate 5 for northbound traffic and an extra right-turn lane for eastbound motorists at Rancho Viejo Road. Both the city and Caltrans have jointly funded the project to reduce traffic congestion at the Interstate 5 interchange.
