Blue Line Gates

Re “6 Killed as Taxi Tries to Beat Blue Line Train in Compton,” Nov. 29: The accident is a good example of shortsightedness on the part of the MTA and others who should be looking at ways to stop the scofflaws who drive around the gates. A simple solution is to install two more gates at each of the crossings where a large number of violations occur.
If a gate was installed on the left side of the street that would block the other half of the street, there would be no way for cars to drive around the gates. A cost/benefit analysis might prove this to be cheaper than one accident with the resulting damage, lost time for commuters, the cost of investigation and lost revenue. This is still a small thing compared to the injuries and the loss of life.
