The Airport as Antique Junction

The nuances of collecting and decorating with antiques will be an underlying theme for the Los Angeles Antiques Show tonight through Sunday at Santa Monica Airport’s Barkar Hangar.
“We’re fine-tuning the show every year,” said Abby Levy, president of the Women’s Guild of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, which joined forces with the Antiques Dealers of California four years ago to sponsor the show for its major fund-raiser.
With Barkar Hangar converted to a complex of elegant showrooms for the event, which attracts more than 65 international dealers of furniture, rugs, silver, textiles and other decorative arts, the show kicks off with tonight’s sold-out gala party and preview. The Los Angeles Design Group’s three-part lecture series will be free this year, and a Young Collector’s night on Friday will focus on people who are new to the world of collecting.
