UC Irvine’s School of the Arts has been chosen to oversee creation and implementation of a University of California effort to help restore art education in public schools. The program will be patterned after UCI’s acclaimed “Arts Bridge,” which was started in 1996 and uses School of the Arts students to conduct lessons in the various arts at public schools. The new program will be funded, in part, by an annual total allotment of $1.5 million in state funds.
