* A dinner meeting of the Ventura-Oxnard chapter of the National Assn. of Women in Construction will be held at 6 p.m. May 4 at the Radisson Hotel, 600 E. Esplanade Drive, Oxnard. Jeanine Husted of PHRS Associates will speak on “How to Hire a Good Employee.”

* “Light the Nation with Prayer,” the 26th annual Ventura County Mayors Prayer Breakfast, will be sponsored by the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce at 6:30 a.m. May 6 at the Residence Inn by Marriott, 2101 W. Vineyard Ave., Oxnard. The speaker will be psychologist Adrienne T. DiCamillo.
The cost is $15 per person or $150 for a sponsor’s table, payable by Monday. Information is available at 385-8860.
* “Stay an Extra Day,” a forum to acquaint Ventura employees with city attractions, will be sponsored by the Ventura Visitors and Convention Bureau and the Ventura Chamber of Commerce on May 6. Sessions run from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration is 30 minutes before the event at the bureau office, 89 S. California St., Ventura.
The cost is $10 for employees and $20 for sponsoring restaurants and attractions. Information is available at 648-2075.
* An annual tourism luncheon, sponsored by the Oxnard Convention and Visitors Bureau to celebrate National Tourism Week, will be held at noon May 6 at the Casa Sirena Hotel and Marina. The speaker will be Lon Hatamiya, secretary of the California Trade and Commerce Agency.
The cost is $18. Make reservations at 385-7545.
* An import/export logistics and trade series, sponsored by the Ventura County Community College District Center for International Development, will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 11-13 at Oxnard College, 4000 S. Rose Ave. The series consists of six three-hour classes.
The cost is $389 for the series, $199 for just the import or just the export portion of the series, or $69 for one class. Make reservations at 986-5831.
