Bogus Air Traffic Broadcast Reported

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating reports that an unauthorized broadcast on the control tower frequency at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport told an aircraft to “divert” its landing. A voice said, “USAir divert, divert, divert your landing,” according to WUSA-TV, which quoted several sources. The pilot of a United Airlines aircraft, on its final approach, reportedly queried the tower and was told to complete the approach, the station reported.
