Lush Life Coming to Santa Monica

When Steve Edelson blew into Hollywood from Chi-Town in the early ‘90s, he gobbled up half a dozen clubs almost immediately. These days he’s the key owner of Martini Lounge, the Garage and the Joint--and that’s just the short list.
Having just recently sold Union, Edelson gave us a jingle this week to tell us about his latest adventure in Clubsville. He and his partners are transforming the former McInerney’s in Santa Monica (Sean Penn’s old joint, which later became Deuces) into a swanky supper and dance club, with a DJ every night and no outside promoters. “I want it to be like the old New York clubs, where you know what to expect every time you go,” Edelson says. He’s settled on the name Lush, and the place could be open as early as May. . . . Gosh, I have so much more I could tell you about--scandals, new owners--but I’m outta room. Looks like you’ll have to spend another quarter next week.
