The City Council this week voted unanimously to support proposed flight demonstrations for the proposed El Toro airport. The county Board of Supervisors has endorsed a 29-million passenger-per-year airport for El Toro Marine Corps Air Station when the base closes in July. As part of testing the feasibility of that plan, as well as pacifying public concerns about noise levels, the supervisors also have endorsed a series of test flights that would demonstrate the amount of noise airplanes would generate.
