The City Council has submitted an application for a share of an $8.2-million federal grant to improve neighborhoods during the 1999-2000 fiscal year. Since 1974, the city has received annual Community Development Block Grant funds to improve low- and moderate-income neighborhoods.
Goals include eliminating blight and creating a stable economic base. In Santa Ana, the funds have been used specifically for housing improvements, parks, historic preservation efforts and services. Information: (714) 647-5360.
