The City Council last week voted 4 to 0 to authorize the sale of 40 acres of Baker Ranch to the Saddleback Valley Church. The parcel is east of Portola Parkway, next to the existing Saddleback Valley Church at 1 Saddleback Parkway. The church is planning to build a 7,500-seat sanctuary, a parking structure and education buildings on the land in about four years. El Toro Materials, which is leasing the site, will continue to operate a sand and gravel pit there until the church is ready to develop the property.
