Robitaille Helps Titans to Split in Tournament

Christy Robitaille struck out nine and gave up four hits to help Cal State Fullerton to a 9-2 victory over McNeese State in the first day of pool play of the Cajun softball tournament Friday at Southwestern Louisiana.
Robitaille improves to 6-5. Fullerton (24-16) had 15 hits, led by Stacy Pierson (three for four) and Stephenie Little (14th home run).
In an earlier game, Southwestern Louisiana (34-5) defeated the Titans, 8-0, in five innings. The Titans got only four hits of Melissa Coronado (15-2).
In Golden State Athletic Conference softball:
Azusa Pacific 2-8, Concordia 1-0--Concordia took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the first game, but Azusa Pacific rallied with runs in the fifth and eighth to win. Lorna Lyttle had three RBIs and Laura Powers had two for Azusa Pacific in the second game.
In Big West Conference women’s tennis:
UC Santa Barbara 5, UC Irvine 4--UC Santa Barbara won the final two doubles’ matches to earn the victory. UC Irvine (9-12, 5-1) got victories in singles from Jonni Seymour, Natalie Exon and Nickole Kabe. In doubles Seymour and Darian Chappell defeated Cindy Ammann and Shannon Wilkins, 9-7.
