Orange Coast 6, Irvine Valley 5 (8)--Monica Bustamante scored the winning run on Andrea Prante’s two-out single in the bottom of the eighth for the host Pirates (5-20, 1-9). OCC scored two runs on wild pitches in the bottom of the seventh to tie the score, 5-5. Irvine Valley is 5-14, 1-10.
Santa Ana 5, Golden West 0--Erica Pilkington pitched a four-hit shutout to lead visiting Santa Ana (15-18-2, 5-6).
In Orange Empire Conference baseball:
Cypress 16, Golden West 5--Sophomore Cory Sullivan was five for six, with a three-run homer, three doubles, four RBIs and three runs scored for host Cypress (23-7-1, 10-2). Shaun Larkin had two hits, two runs scored and three RBIs.
Reuben Gulledge hit a two-run homer for Golden West (15-16, 5-9) in the fourth, tying the score, 4-4.
Riverside 13, Fullerton 10--David Fischer went two for four with a double and an RBI for host Fullerton (16-16, 3-9). Riverside (16-11, 8-6) rallied from a 7-3 deficit with nine runs in the sixth.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s volleyball:
Golden West 3, San Diego Mesa 0--Chad Mowrey had 10 kills and Austin George had nine to lead first-place Golden West (13-1) to a 15-3, 15-3, 15-5 victory. Jeremy Lynch had seven kills for visiting San Diego Mesa (4-10).
Orange Coast 3, Irvine Valley 0--Ryan Busch had 15 kills and Dave Kennedy had 10 for Orange Coast, which won, 15-1, 15-2, 15-11. Eric Saxton had 10 kills and Ryan Hiskey and Brad Evans each had seven for Irvine Valley (2-12). The Pirates are 16-2, 12-2.
In women’s tennis:
Skagit Valley (Wash.) 6, Orange Coast 1--Margo Verhagen won in singles, 6-0, 6-2, for Orange Coast.
