TreePeople Seek Helpers to Plant Eucalyptus Saplings

Volunteers are invited to help plant eucalyptus trees along the median strip on Burbank Boulevard across from the Encino Golf Course today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
TreePeople, a nonprofit environmental organization in Los Angeles, will plant about 30 of the Australian trees to beautify the area. The group planted 30 trees in the same area last week, said Jim Summers, manager of the Urban Tree Program for TreePeople. The total cost for the project is about $2,000.
“In general, planting trees helps the air,” Summers said. “The trees will also help hold the dirt in place when the street floods.”
Those interested in helping out should wear sturdy shoes and gloves, Summer said.
