Unova Sues Toshiba

Unova Inc. of Beverly Hills has filed suit against Toshiba Corp. in federal court in Los Angeles, alleging that the Japanese firm is infringing Unova patents for long-life battery packs and removable disk drives in laptop computers. The suit says Toshiba, which makes the Satellite, Protege, Libretto and Tecra portable computer lines, and its U.S. agents are wrongfully employing Unova technology. It seeks damages and an injunction against using the technology. Officials of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. of Irvine declined to comment.
