The 52nd annual Newport to Ensenada International Yacht Race will set sail April 23, featuring more than 20 classes of ships. Teams will compete for the President of the United States trophy, the President of Mexico trophy and the coveted First-to-Finish honors. Founded by the Newport Ocean Sailing Assn., members first met in 1947 to organize a small, recreational race for sailors coming out of World War II. The event has grown to feature more than 400 boats every year, as well as a week of pre-race day activities that traditionally attract more than 10,000 participants.
