Volleyball

Rafter, a senior outside hitter, led Irvine to two big victories last week. The Anteaters, ranked 13th nationally, beat top-ranked Long Beach State Wednesday and seventh-ranked Hawaii Saturday.

Rafter had 26 kills against Long Beach State and 33 against Hawaii.

THIS WEEK

Men’s volleyball: Irvine is fourth in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation’s Mountain Division with three matches left. Irvine plays at third-ranked Pepperdine at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Track and field: Robert Frichtel had a triple in Saturday’s Big West Challenge Cup, winning the 3,000 meters, 1,500 meters and 800 meters. Irvine competes Saturday in the UC San Diego Collegiate Invitational, beginning at 9 a.m.

Women’s tennis: Freshman Jonni Seymour is 13-7 in singles play. Irvine, 5-0 in Big West Conference, faces UC Santa Barbara at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Men’s tennis: The Anteaters, 41st nationally, host Cal Poly San Luis Obispo at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Golf: The Anteaters continue play in the Western Intercollegiate today in Santa Cruz.
