Dead Whale Found in Harbor Is Towed to Sea

LOS ANGELES HARBOR — A gray whale that had been dead for several days and was discovered Monday bobbing in Los Angeles Harbor was towed out to sea for disposal by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The carcass, which was 25 to 30 feet long, was discovered about 3:45 p.m. in the harbor’s main channel, a mile south of the Los Angeles sea buoy, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
The whale was towed out of the harbor by a 41-foot utility boat for fear that the body would disturb traffic or endanger sea vessels. The whale was released after it had been towed seven miles.
