Secession

Re “60% of Valley Voters Favor City Secession,” March 31: Nobody asked me! I wish they had. My father and mother were born in Los Angeles. Dad went to Los Angeles High School; Mom went to Manual Arts. My brother and I attended Dorsey. I moved to Sherman Oaks over 20 years ago. That didn’t make me feel like a second-class citizen. My streets are swept, my councilman gives me constituent services and helps me solve problems.
I still take pride in saying that I’m an Angeleno. I’m proud of being a part of this great city. I have enjoyed everything this wonderful city has to offer. I take my son on a “trip around the world” on a harbor cruise. I swim and play at the beaches. I enjoy the museums. The list goes on and on.
I’m not a Pollyanna. Of course there are problems. But I believe we solve nothing by breaking up a great city. Is there someone out there who will bring us together rather than tearing this city to pieces?
