Some Lessons From Flo-Jo

Remember Flo-Jo? As if we could forget.
Now a new book is out--Florence Griffith Joyner’s final contribution to the world of running--that honors her memory by contributing $1 of every sale to the Flo-Jo Memorial Community Empowerment Foundation.
“Running for Dummies” (IDG Books) was written by Flo-Jo with Newsday running writer John Hanc just months before she died in September from an epileptic seizure in her Orange County home. Her husband, Olympic gold medalist Al Joyner, is a founder of the memorial foundation, which is devoted to helping children follow their dreams.
A tribute to Flo-Jo with 23 color photos and inspirational quotes was added to the book after her death. The how-to book also includes a foreword by Flo-Jo’s sister-in-law and fellow Olympian, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, who says the most important legacy of the woman known as “the fastest woman in the world” is the interest she sparked in track and field for girls all over the world.
