The city will host a federal empowerment zone open house on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Pio Pico Elementary School, 931 W. Highland St. City officials will meet with the public to discuss the empowerment zone status, which could bring the city as much as $100 million for job training, education and economic development.
