Disney Names New Distribution Exec

Walt Disney Co. restructured its distribution ranks on Thursday, naming its main executive, Phil Barlow, to the new post of executive vice president overseeing new technologies related to film exhibition.
Chuck Viane will become president of Disney’s distribution arm, Buena Vista Pictures Distribution.
Disney said that Barlow had been talked out of retiring to take the new job. In the position, Barlow will look at delivering movies in alternative ways, such as using the Internet, satellite systems and digital technology.
