Ice Dogs Clinch Playoff Spot

The Long Beach Ice Dogs clinched a playoff berth Wednesday by defeating the Las Vegas Thunder, 5-3, in an International Hockey League hockey game before an announced crowd of 2,556 at the Long Beach Arena.
Jan Nemecek scored his fifth goal of the season and had an assist on another to lead the Ice Dogs, who improve to 46-25-4 and are in second place in the Southwest Division. The Ice Dog victory ended a five-game winning streak for the Thunder.
Russ Romaniuk scored a short-handed goal and Jason Hollodon and Nathan Lafayette also added goals for the Ice Dogs.
