SEASON AT A GLANCE: The 6-foot-3, 300-pound tight end/linebacker has helped the Wolverines to a 6-1 record. He leads the team with 26 catches for 481 yards and three receiving touchdowns, and anchors the defense, which is allowing 96 yards rushing per game.

Holmes also had two catches for 50 yards, including a 38-yarder that set up a touchdown. GIRLS
Gaby Gallardo
SCHOOL: Poly
SPORT: Volleyball
YEAR: Senior
SEASON AT A GLANCE: A dependable outside hitter and setter, Gallardo has filled many needs for the Parrots. More consistent than she was as an All-City Section player last year, the 5-foot-9 Gallardo is the main reason Poly should go far in the playoffs.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Gallardo had 16 kills and 10 assists in a five-game victory over Sylmar that put Poly in first place in the Valley Pac-8 Conference, avenging an earlier loss to Sylmar. In a victory over North Hollywood, Gallardo had 16 kills and eight assists for the Parrots (8-1, 7-1 in conference play), ranked No. 10 in the region by The Times.
