Computer Sciences Earnings Surge 25%

Computer Sciences Corp. reported a 25% jump in fiscal second-quarter net income to $73 million on strong revenue growth in Europe and U.S. revenue from federal contracts. The El Segundo-based provider of computer-related services, consulting and systems outsourcing saw its earnings per share rise 21% to 45 cents per diluted share for the quarter ended Oct. 2, compared with 37 cents on net income of $58.6 million in the year-ago quarter. The company matched analysts’ consensus per-share earnings estimate. Quarterly revenue at the company rose to $1.85 billion, versus $1.58 billion a year ago. Its shares rose 44 cents to close at $57 on the New York Stock Exchange.
