Freedom Proves Fatal to Escaped Prisoner

CINCINNATI — An accused bank robber tied bedsheets into a rope, dropped 20 feet from his jail window Wednesday, then collapsed and died, authorities said.
Police found William S. Burress, 49, of West Chester, a few blocks away. The sheet was found in two pieces, suggesting that it didn’t hold, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
