19 Mexican Nationals Found Locked in House

Nineteen Mexican nationals were found locked in a house Friday, apparently left there by smugglers awaiting payment for bringing the adults and children across the border.
Sheriff’s deputies went to the house in the 1760 block of Bolivar Street to serve eviction papers on tenants Friday morning. Instead of finding delinquent renters, the deputies discovered 16 adults and three children inside, authorities said. The front door lock had been reversed, so that no one could leave without a key.
One of the children was malnourished and was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for treatment. The other individuals were turned over to the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service.
No arrests have been made.
