Pilot’s Body Found in Island Wreckage

A pilot killed in a single-engine plane crash this week on Santa Catalina Island lived in Laguna Hills, authorities said.
The body of Daniel Welker, 28, was discovered in the wreckage in the Silverpeak area on the west end of the island, said Los Angeles County coroner’s spokesman Scott Carrier. Welker flew alone, Carrier said.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of the crash.
