Bishop Amat 7, Loyola 7--Dennis Wyrick caught Chris Rix’s 37-yard pass for a touchdown with 32 seconds to play at Pierce College, giving Bishop Amat (9-0-1, 2-0-1) the Del Rey title.
An unsportsmanlike call against the Loyola bench on third down led to a fourth and 20 from the Loyola 20 with two minutes remaining. That set up good field position for Bishop Amat, which had to go only 53 yards for the tying score.
Running back John Grady carried the load for Loyola (8-1-1, 1-1-1) the Cubs, gaining 103 yards on 33 carries.
