SWIMMING AND DIVING

* Palos Verdes Peninsula at Mission Viejo, 3 p.m., Friday: This dual meet could be interesting for the boys. Mission Viejo doesn’t have the influx of foreign swimmers as in years past, but it is strong enough to give one of the top teams in Division I a good meet.

* Marina at Fountain Valley, 3 p.m., Tuesday: This Sunset League showdown is coming early for the two best teams in the league. The dual meet between the girls will be the one to watch; sophomore Kyoko Youkouchi leads the Vikings and Grace Wang the Barons. Look for some fast relay times.

* Irvine at El Toro, 3 p.m., Wednesday: The Irvine boys get to test their mettle against their Sea View League rival. The Chargers aren’t as strong as they have been, but they still have some talent. Many of the top girls’ swimmers will be competing instead in the Southern Section relays, which begin Thursday, and preparing for the Junior and Senior Nationals.
