Selleck Group Gets OK to Build Retail Center
- Share via
Actor Tom Selleck and his brother Dan have won City Council approval to develop a retail center over the objections of environmentalists, who say the 5.8-acre parcel is a wetland populated by the rare southern tarplant .
The council voted 7-2 Tuesday to permit Selleck Development Group to build Marina Shores, which still must be approved by the state Coastal Commission.
The project, which will include a supermarket, specialty shops and restaurants, will be near the ocean between Pacific Coast Highway and Marina Drive, north of Studebaker Road and south of the Seaport Marina Hotel.
The site, once a Standard Oil gas processing plant, is near two major commercial developments, Marina Pacifica and The Market Place.
