Deteriorated neighborhoods surrounding Disneyland may get an $8.7-million make-over, including new street lights and sidewalks.
At a City Council workshop Tuesday,) officials announced a three-year program of infrastructure and beautification projects to be completed by 2001 to coincide with a Disneyland expansion, a larger convention facility and a renovated resort area.
Mayor Tom Daly said the concept is a “great first step.”
“We need to retain the highest standards in those neighborhoods,” he said.
The program will be funded with $5 million from bond money issued for resort improvements and $3.7 million from other sources, such as federal grant money and low-income housing funds.
