Highway Section North of Ojai to Remain Closed

California 33 north of Wheelers Gorge Campground above Ojai will remain closed for at least the next three months because of landslides left by last month’s storms, officials from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said.
The road is blocked by barricades at the campground and no one except residents and business owners from that area will be allowed past the barricades.
The California Department of Transportation has posted warning signs on California 33 at Fairview Road in Ojai to remind motorists of the road closure farther up the mountain.
Motorists who drive past the closed signs are subject to citation, with California Highway Patrol officers and sheriff’s deputies monitoring the area.
Law enforcement officials are asking motorists to stay out of the area because of hazards to them, Caltrans employees and the private contractors clearing the landslides.
