$85,000 Fire Destroys Garage, Damages Home

BELL CANYON — Fire destroyed a garage and part of a custom home Tuesday on Saddlebow Road near the eastern Ventura County line.
Structural damage was estimated at $70,000 and loss of contents at $15,000, said Vicki Crabtree, spokeswoman for the Ventura County Fire Department.
The fire, which began about 4:30 p.m., was confined to the three-car garage and a bedroom built above the garage, Crabtree said.
“The owner and his sons were working on a go-cart inside the garage and they must have had some type of fuel leak that caught fire,” she said.
There were no injuries.
