Students Can Enter Government for a Day

City and law enforcement leaders will host 42 high school students today during the annual Youth in Government Day.
The students will team with City Council members, police officers, judges at Municipal Court in Westminster, firefighters and others for the day.
“It’s a chance for the students to get a hands-on view of city government and exactly what we do,” said Barbara Gonzales of the city’s Community Services and Recreation Department. “People keep coming back each year, and the volunteers keep volunteering, so both sides seem to really enjoy it.”
The City Council will recognize the students at its regular meeting at 7:30 tonight in council chambers, 8200 Westminster Blvd. Information: (714) 898-3311.
