FT. ORD, Calif. — Federal investigators joined the search Tuesday for a 13-year-old girl who disappeared at Ft. Ord four days earlier.
Christina Williams was last seen walking her dog Friday night in the Monterey County park that borders her family’s home. Her dog, Greg, later showed up at the Williams’ home alone and trailing his leash, authorities said.
On Monday, 40 searchers combed the 10,000-acre former fort by helicopter, bike and with bloodhounds.
Federal investigators also were looking for two men who accosted a female jogger at Ft. Ord around the time Christina disappeared Friday, FBI spokesman George Grotz said.
The jogger told authorities that the men were driving a gray late 1970s to early 1980s Ford sedan, he said. “We cannot rule out an abduction at this point,” Grotz said.
It’s still possible Christina ran off on her own, said her father, Michael Williams Sr., a career Navy officer who said the family’s continual moves were hard on the girl.
The family moved from Japan to the Monterey peninsula in November.
