The Las Virgenes Unified School District is seeking applicants to serve on its Curriculum Council. There are four open positions, each for a two-year term.
The deadline for applications is Thursday.
The council is made up of school district administrators, students, teachers and community members, and it reports to the district Board of Education.
The council makes recommendations to the board about possible subjects that could be added to a school’s curriculum, a spokeswoman for the district said.
The council also recommends alternatives to a school’s schedule, such as adding more periods for extracurricular activities.
Applications will be turned over to a Board of Education subcommittee that will be formed at next week’s school board meeting.
Candidates will be interviewed during the summer and new council members will be selected before the new school year begins Sept. 2.
For information, call the district office at (818) 878-5218 before 4 p.m. Thursday.
