The Centinela Valley Union High School District board of education announced on Tuesday the appointment of Mali D. Currington as a board member.
The appointment filled a position formerly occupied by Mike Escalante, the trustee from Area 3 that covers parts of Lawndale and Hawthorne, who died in May. Currington had been a member of the district’s Personnel Commission.
The board held special sessions to accommodate the public throughout the appointment process. The final 3-to-1 vote was taken from a pool of three applicants, officials said.
