Censoring TV
The alleged sex scandal currently engulfing Washington and the world proves one thing certain: All the TV rating systems and all the V-chips won’t protect children from trash or tabloid television. Real life news on television daily is potentially more harmful to children than any mildly sexy or violent TV show, and the multimillion-dollar television rating/V-chip system mandated by the government offers no protection whatsoever to our children from this daily X-rated news exposure. News programs are not rated.
So let’s get the government and politicians out of the business of unnecessary controls such as television ratings and V-chips. Instead, let us encourage parents to spend more time with their children and monitor the TV set to know which shows their children are watching. It’s up to parents to raise their own children.
