‘Titanic’ Still Going Full Steam

In its 10th straight weekend as No. 1, “Titanic” chugged past “E.T.” to become the second-highest grossing film of all time. James Cameron’s blockbuster took in $21 million over the weekend for a total domestic gross of $402.6 million. “Titanic” is already the highest-grossing film in its initial release, and the only obstacle in its way to becoming the No. 1 box-office champ is “Star Wars,” which has grossed $461 million over the last 21 years.

The Adam Sandler romantic comedy “The Wedding Singer” continues to make music and money, coming in second with $12.8 million for a 10-day total of $37.7 million. Of the new releases, the Marlon Wayans comedy “Senseless” placed fifth with a three-day total of $5.3 million and the neo-noirish “Palmetto” came in eighth with $2.9 million.

* In limited release, “Dangerous Beauty” earned $105,989 on 10 screens, and “Mrs. Dalloway” made $90,127 on eight screens.
