Regarding “More Children Fly Alone--and Fees Head Upward Too” (Travel Insider, June 21): I have been sending my 7-year-old daughter to California from Texas, on Southwest Airlines, for the past two years for summer vacation. I have been very pleased with the care Southwest takes with my daughter.
I am appalled at the rates that some other airlines charge parents to fly their children (Southwest does not charge a fee). The extra charges are merely a way for airlines to make more money.
I think the other airlines should pay attention to what is most important, the children’s safety, and not how much they can take advantage of the fact that more children fly these days.
