WHITE BRED

Although Carlos Santana’s comment about Seattle music being too white for his taste sounded racist, he is, in fact, quite accurate (Letters, Aug. 16). Since the time we moved to Seattle from L.A. in 1994, we have noticed the same fact . . . and we are white.
Evolved from a largely Nordic community, this area offers more polka music than most humans can stand. Grunge is gone. Hip-hop is rare. We have only heard Latin music on the few occasions Los Lobos has visited. We miss the diversity, depth and tradition of cultures found in L.A. Santana is just being truthful.
