Yorba Linda’s Nico Bollini and Irvine’s Brian Sinay both shot par 72 and are three strokes behind the leaders after the first round of the Phoenix Junior Championship tournament at the Arizona State Karsten Course.
John Poucher of Santa Barbara and Brandon Askew of Fargo, N.D., are the leaders at 69. Brea’s Brad Sader and Irvine’s Mike Lavery shot 74.
In the girls’ tournament, Fullerton’s Angela Rho shot par 72 and is one shot behind the leader, Laura Beisser of Scottsdale, Ariz., who shot one-under 71. Fountain Valley’s Candie Kung shot 73.
