Two college students were injured when they fell four stories from the balcony of an apartment building, authorities said Monday.
Joshua Davis, 21, a sophomore theater major at UCLA, was listed in critical condition with chest and pelvic fractures at UCLA Medical Center, said hospital spokesperson Roxanne Yamaguchi Moster.
Heather Strobel, 19, who attends San Diego State University, was in critical condition after undergoing abdominal surgery Monday, Moster said.
The accident occurred at 527 Midvale Ave. just before midnight Sunday, said Los Angeles Police Department detectives investigating the incident.
The two students fell over a railing approximately 4 feet high into a courtyard about 40 feet below, police said.
They were among a group of about six friends present at the time of the accident. It was not clear Monday whether alcohol was a factor in the accident, police said.
