CAMARILLO — A head-on crash on Santa Rosa Road killed two people early Monday, including George David Snider, 41, of Chatsworth.
The accident occurred about 8 a.m. when a Toyota driven by Snider, heading west on the two-lane road between Camarillo and Thousand Oaks, veered into oncoming traffic and hit a Ford Thunderbird, killing a passenger, Sadie Marie Green, 85, of Simi Valley, authorities said.
The driver, Green’s 56-year-old daughter, Arlene Brown of Oxnard, was in critical condition at Los Robles Regional Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
California Highway Patrol investigators did not know why Snider, who was on his way to work in Camarillo, swerved into Brown’s lane on a flat stretch of road, but said a witness reported him driving unsafely before the accident.
“We did have a report of this red Toyota traveling erratically--passing, driving on the shoulder, crossing over the center divider,” said CHP Sgt. Douglas Howell.
