After four years serving area veterans, the van used to transport them to Los Angeles area hospitals is fast approaching the end of its tour of duty and will need to be replaced.
To keep the program running, the Simi Valley chapter of the Disabled American Veterans is hoping to raise $25,000 to purchase a new van by next year.
The 15-passenger van, which was acquired from the city of Simi Valley, has been used to take thousands of area veterans to hospitals in the Los Angeles area free of charge.
Donors should should make checks payable to DAV-Van and send them to Harry Kundin, commander of the Simi Valley chapter of the Disabled American Veterans, 2018 Booth St., Simi Valley, 93065-1102.
All donations are tax deductible.
