Club Offers Skateboarding Area for Youths

Realizing that more Simi Valley youths are opting to spend their time popping ollies than swinging a baseball bat, the Boys & Girls Club has opened a skateboarding club.
In creating what they call the “SK8 Club,” organizers are providing music and a place to skate--complete with ramps--every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the basketball courts next to the Boys & Girls Club at 2850 Lemon Drive.
Skateboarders must be a member of the Boys & Girls Club to use the facility. Membership costs $12 a year.
Skaters are required to wear protective gear like helmets and kneepads. The club offers a limited supply of gear.
For Boys & Girls Club information, call 527-4437, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
