* Carpinteria-based QAD Inc. shares fell 42% to a 52-week low after the computer software maker said it will report a loss for its fiscal second quarter because of a slowdown in the auto industry. QAD, which makes software to manage manufacturers’ inventory, fell $3.50 to $4.75 in Nasdaq trading.
