Down With Tourists!

In Christopher Reynolds’ article on traveling to Iran (“Inside Iran,” June 28), he quotes June Berger of Baltimore as saying: “My friends all asked me why. Sometimes I just want to say, ‘If you have to ask why, then you’ll never understand.’ ”
Why Berger would want to go to a country and stay at a hotel that states “DOWN WITH USA” is something that goes beyond common reason.
I, for one, would contribute to a one-way ticket for her. Her statement that “if you have to ask why, then you’ll never understand” is 100% correct. I do not understand. If the day ever comes that a country takes her hostage, I wonder who she will look toward to rescue her? I would place my life savings it will be the United States.
