What a pleasant surprise to see an article about the white-haired naked gentleman I have seen on my early-morning walks with my dog in West Hollywood (“Just an Exhibitionist,” by Lynn Cohen, June 28). It is quite a shock the first time a person comes face to--well, face with him.
The eerie quality of seeing a completely naked man strutting down the street has not worn off for me quite yet. Now Cohen’s article has given me proof for co-workers and friends who were hesitant to believe me.
After the magazine was delivered, my mother-in-law phoned and asked: “Is that your naked man?” I have to admit that I felt a certain amount of pride when I said yes.

Exhibitionism is a crime. Men who expose themselves to women or children sometimes go on to commit rape or child molestation.
Shame on The Times for printing such drivel, and shame on Cohen for saying that exhibitionism is harmless. Ask any woman or child who has been victimized by one of these crimes how they feel about it.
