Federal authorities Friday released a photograph of the man they believe is responsible for two bank robberies this week in Port Hueneme.
The photo was taken Tuesday by a surveillance camera during a robbery at Washington Mutual Bank at 619 W. Channel Islands Blvd. On Monday, a block away, California Federal Bank at 739 W. Channel Islands Blvd. was robbed.
In both holdups, the man presented a note and claimed he was armed. In neither case did a teller see a weapon.
Tellers at both banks handed over an unknown amount of cash and the bandit fled on foot, FBI Supervisor Kevin Kelly said.
Witnesses at both banks described the robber as a slender white male, about 20 years old and 5 feet, 9 inches to 6 feet.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Port Hueneme Police Department at 986-6534, the FBI at 642-3995, or Crime Stoppers at 986-TALK.
